Selection of the first recipient of Tarek Kamel Fellowship Recognition

Abdalmonem Galila

We are proud to announce that Abdalmonem Galila has been selected as the first-ever recipient of the Tarek Kamel Fellowship Recognition. Galila, who lives in Egypt, is among the fellows who were selected to attend ICANN68.

The Tarek Kamel Fellowship Recognition is a tribute to Dr. Tarek Kamel, who served as ICANN’s Senior Advisor to the President and Senior Vice President of Government and Intergovernmental Organization (IGO) Engagement.

The award recognizes the outstanding contributions of fellows in furthering ICANN’s capacity development efforts in their respective regions. The recognition is integrated into the existing ICANN Fellowship Program.

Abdalmonem Galila is the Deputy Manager of the .masr (.???) IDN ccTLD of Egypt. He is also a member of the Task Force on Arabic Script Internationalized Domain Names (TF-AIDN) that focuses on the secure deployment and ease of use of Arabic IDNs.

He is a very active member of the ICANN community, and is currently engaged in the work being done by the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG). In March 2018, he was elected as a UA ambassador, supporting the equal treatment of all domain names. Since then he has conducted many UA awareness sessions, training sessions and hands-on workshops inside and outside of Egypt.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Abdalmonem on this very special recognition.
